Ivan has 6 times as many blue beads as red beads. He has 49 red and bye beads in all. How many blue beads does Ivan have in all

Ahh -- thanks for reposting. Now your problem can be solved.

r = red beads
6r = blue beads

r + 6r = 49

7r = 49

r = 7

7 red beads

7 * 6 = _______ blue beads

42 blue bands

So. The answer is seven

Where is the 7 coming from

I still don't know the answer cause the teacher said that there are 7 red beads and she wrote 7 * 6 is how many blue beads there are; which is 42. And the question said that there are 42 beads in all.... 42 + 7 is definitely more than 42. I don't understand!

I mean 49 OH!!! NOW I UNDERSTAND!! I just didn't see that it was 49, not 42!

i still dont know the answer

To find out how many blue beads Ivan has in total, we need to set up a mathematical equation based on the information given.

Let's assume that Ivan has x red beads. According to the given information, Ivan has 6 times as many blue beads as red beads. Therefore, the number of blue beads can be represented as 6x.

We also know that Ivan has a total of 49 beads (red and blue combined). So, we can write another equation:

x + 6x = 49

Now, we can solve this equation to find the value of x and then calculate the number of blue beads.

Combining like terms, we have:

7x = 49

To isolate x, we divide both sides of the equation by 7:

x = 49/7

Simplifying the expression, we get:

x = 7

Now, we can substitute the value of x back into the equation for the number of blue beads:

6x = 6 * 7 = 42

Therefore, Ivan has a total of 42 blue beads in all.
