Not long after the introduction of television itself, television commercials became a tool for advertising products and services. The very first television advertisement appeared on July 1, 1941 for a Bulova watch. Other companies like Gimballs department store and Firestone tires followed Bulovas example shortly thereafter. These advertisements induce others to use a product/service which increases the sales and networks begin charging more money for the advertising spots, thus maximizing profits. Television commercials can be classified into the following three types: humorous, endorsements, and as sexually appealing.

Then there are specific commercials to late night Television. There are three primary late-night television advertisements; those informing you on a subject, those selling you a product, and those selling you on a product (not to be confused with those selling you a product).

This is the only information dealing with classification that I see in your essay.

"There are three primary late-night television advertisements; those informing you on a subject, those selling you a product, and those selling you on a product (not to be confused with those selling you a product). "

I suggest you use that as your thesis and develop your essay from there.

Yes that is what I thought but apparently he had concerns with it thank you

The essay is supposed to be on Advertisements, then we have to narrow it. I have narrowed it to TV advertisements on cars. I was thinking of TV advertisements appeal in the following ways: accessibility, image changing and ???. accessibility would be those advertisements that say you don't need good credit, you will have low monthly payments, etc. The style changing would be the corvettes that change you into a cool free dude, or the van that makes you the best mommy, etc. I am struggling with the third category (maybe utility) like the truck for deliveries etc, but not sure how to incorporate this and also want to make sure these are good categories...Pls. help my clock is ticking and I am stressing need to get the whole paper written by tommorrow.....

Sure! I'd be happy to help you come up with ideas for your classification essay on advertisements. When it comes to classification essays, the goal is to categorize a topic into different groups or types based on their characteristics, features, or qualities. In the case of advertisements, you can classify them based on various factors. Here are a few potential ideas to consider:

1. Classification based on target audience:
- Ads targeting children: Analyze advertisements specifically designed to appeal to children, such as toys, snacks, or animated films.
- Ads targeting teenagers: Explore advertisements that target the teenage demographic, like fashion, technology, or music-related ads.
- Ads targeting adults: Discuss advertisements that focus on products or services aimed at adults, such as insurance, home appliances, or vacations.

2. Classification based on media platform:
- Television commercials: Examine different types of advertisements aired on television, categorizing them according to content, duration, or target audience.
- Social media ads: Explore advertisements found on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, and classify them based on format, engagement strategies, or target audience.
- Print ads: Analyze advertisements found in newspapers, magazines, or billboards, categorizing them based on design elements, visual appeal, or target audience.

3. Classification based on persuasive techniques:
- Emotional appeal: Discuss advertisements that primarily employ emotional tactics to persuade viewers, such as using heartwarming stories, nostalgia, or empathy.
- Logical appeal: Examine advertisements that focus on presenting facts, statistics, or logical arguments to appeal to viewers' reasoning and intellect.
- Celebrity endorsement: Explore advertisements that feature celebrities promoting products or services and discuss the impact of endorsements on consumer behavior.

Remember, the key to a successful classification essay is to ensure that the categories are distinct and do not overlap while providing enough evidence and examples to support your classification. Once you choose a topic, you can further narrow down your categories and brainstorm specific examples within each category. Good luck with your essay!
