Mr. Corbin is a salesman. He gets a 5% commission on all sales between $100 and $500 and a 10% commission on all sales above $500. His commission on sales of $783 was:

you could have appended the correction to the original post. Anyway,

783-500 = 283

Apparently he makes no commission on the first $100. Assuming that, he makes

0% on 100 = 0.00

5% on 400 = 20.00

10% on 283 = 28.30

Total = 48.30

If I made a mistake on the first $100, make the fix and adjust the total.
