Find an equation of the line that passes through two points.

(0,4) and (7,10)

the slope of the line is ∆y/∆x, so

m = 6/7

Now you have a point and a slope, so the line is

y-4 = 6/7 (x-0)

or

y-10 = 6/7(x-7)

and you can massage them to whatever form you like, and convince yourself that they are really the same equation.
