As a young man in France, Henri Matisse abandoned the study of law to devote himself to art. Him and his fellow artists experimented with using color in a very spontaneous way. THEY sought to emphasize purity of line, decorate pattern, and color in a visual plane. Discovering that he could make certain colors glow and vibrate against one another, Matisse continued to experiment with color and light, stripping his paintings to they’re bare essentials. He was an artist for who strong colors were essential in creating striking effects.

Disabled by arthritis in the last years of his life, Matisse continued creating art through collage. ITS artworks include sculpture, printmaking, stained glass, and drawing.

I agree with both your answers, but I have a question!

Who wrote these passages? They have glaring grammatical errors in them!!

"ONE of the people in Sri Lanka are Sinhalese, whom are Buddhist by tradition."
"whom" is incorrect; it's the subject of its clause and should be "who."

"Him and his fellow artists experimented with using color in a very spontaneous way."
"Him" is incorrect; it's part of the compound subject of the sentence and should be "He."

"He was an artist for who strong colors were essential..."
"for who" is incorrect; a preposition takes an object after it, so this should be "for whom."
