I need help in writing my paper. Past tense form is a big no-no.I uses them all the time. I have a hard time using words to replace past tense words. Please help

My suggestion is that you write as you normally do, and make sure you are following the writing process.

Once you have the rough draft of your paper done ... NOT including the introduction and conclusion ... you can edit for content AND double-check all the verb tenses.

I'd be happy to help you with your paper and finding alternative words to replace past tense forms. Here are some steps you can take:

1. Identify the past tense verbs in your paper: Go through your paper and highlight or make a list of the past tense verbs you have used.

2. Determine the context: Look at the sentence or paragraph where the past tense verb is used and try to understand the context. This will help you choose appropriate alternative words.

3. Select alternative words: Instead of using past tense verbs, you can use present tense, future tense, or alternative verbs to convey the same meaning. Let's look at some examples:
- Instead of "I walked to the store," you can say "I am walking to the store" or "I will walk to the store."
- Instead of "She talked to her friend," you can say "She is talking to her friend" or "She will talk to her friend."
- Instead of "They opened the door," you can say "They are opening the door" or "They will open the door."

4. Use descriptive language: Another way to avoid using past tense verbs is to use descriptive language to paint a picture for the reader. For example, instead of saying "He ate the cake," you can say "He savored every bite of the delicious cake."

5. Proofread and revise: Once you have replaced the past tense verbs, make sure to proofread your paper to ensure the changes are consistent and make sense in the broader context.

Remember, using a mix of tenses can add variety and depth to your writing. Pay attention to the overall flow and clarity of your paper as you make these changes. Good luck with your writing!
