Write a letter to your parents about a memorable moment in your life. Be sure to use imagery.

I tried to use imagery, as instructed, but not wordiness.

What I written:

"First arriving at Girl’s Camp has become one of the most memorable moments of my life. What I had been told about the campsite hardly even described its beauty. Yes, the road was just as rough and nauseating, but every inch of the campsite teemed with life. Tall trees, bushes, and boulders jostled for position. Small rocks littered the ground, forming streams whenever it rained in the pathways between them. Various kinds of birds soared alongside one another, weaving their way through the subtle clouds. At night, the Milky Way replaced them, shining luminously against the dark sky. In the mornings, however, the sun shone even brighter, its rays reflecting upon the surface of the great lake.
From my position on Inspiration Point, a cliff high enough to view most of the campsite, the beauty of nature overwhelmed me; I have never seen such beauty in one of God’s creations. These sights completely mesmerized me. Thus, I know whenever my gaze sets upon a tree or at the stars above, I will remember the beauty here. I will always remember it."

The letter begins with "Dear Mom and Dad."

You also have to have a closing.

I do.

If I were your parents, I would be more interested in how you felt vs what you saw, and how it affected your life, not the beauty there.

Parents did not send you there to send back picture postcards. They want to know the impact, and why you remember it.

Dear Mom and Dad,

I wanted to write to you and share one of the most unforgettable moments of my life. It happened when I first arrived at Girl's Camp, and the beauty I experienced there was beyond anything I had ever imagined.

As we made our way to the campsite, the road was bumpy and twisted, causing a feeling of queasiness in my stomach. But when we finally reached our destination, I was greeted by a sight that words cannot fully describe.

The campsite was a vibrant tapestry of life. Towering trees, their branches reaching out like welcoming arms, stood tall and majestic. They were accompanied by bushes that seemed to jostle with excitement, and boulders that perched on the landscape like ancient guardians.

The ground underneath my feet was adorned with small rocks, scattered like nature's mosaic. When it rained, streams formed in between them, creating delicate pathways that added to the enchantment of the place. The sound of flowing water became a soothing melody that echoed throughout.

As I looked up, I was in awe of the symphony of birds that soared through the air. Different species wove gracefully between one another, like dancers in a delicate ballet. They were accompanied by subtle clouds that floated effortlessly in the sky. But when night fell, the party of birds made way for an even more extraordinary sight – the Milky Way. It stretched across the darkness, shimmering with ethereal light and serving as a testament to the vastness of the universe.

And then there were the mornings. The sun would rise on the horizon, casting its golden rays upon the surface of the great lake. Its reflection would create a mesmerizing dance of light and shadow, painting the water in hues of orange and pink. It was as if the lake itself became a living canvas, each stroke of color bringing it further to life.

But perhaps the most breathtaking moment came when I stood on Inspiration Point. From that elevated position, I could witness the true magnificence of the campsite. As I gazed out, mountains and valleys unfolded before me, revealing layers upon layers of nature's beauty. The sight overwhelmed me, and I felt a deep connection to the wonders of creation.

I know that whenever I encounter a majestic tree or glance at the stars, I will be transported back to that moment at Girl's Camp. The beauty I witnessed there has imprinted itself on my heart, and I will forever carry it within me.

With love and gratitude,
