Develop hypotheses predicting the effect of pyrite and coal on the acidity of water?
1 answer
You might hypothesize that pyrite (FeS2) burns with coal to produce SO2 as one of the products. SO2 then might dissolve n lakes and streams to produce H2SO3 and that would increase the acidity of the H2O. I would add the equations and balance them.
