Choose the right form of the verb for the sentence below:

At the end of the some passages ___________ trapdoors into the dungeons.

a.) are *******
b) is

Please proofread. This doesn't make sense.

Oops Sorry, Here is the correct way:

At the end of some passages there ______ trapdoors into the dungeons.

a.) are *******
b.) is

"are" is correct.

FWIW, I thought the first post was ok. The "there" isn't really necessary.

The structure is simply

Trapdoors into the dungeons are at the end of some passages.

I know right!

Thanks Steve! :-)

If the original sentence had "there" in it, then the question was meant to test whether you could differentiate between "there" and the actual subject of that verb.

Pay attention to detail!

"passages" is plural, hence the plural of the "is" verbs.
