using 5 rectangles what is the area under a curve using the function f(x)=x with boundries at [-2,3]

Poorly worded question.

Since y = x is a nice straight line going through the origin at a 45° angle, the area "under the curve" is open - ended and would be infinite.

If you wanted the area of the region bounded by
y = x, y = -3, and x = 3 , you would simply have a
right-angled triangle with base of 5 and height of 5
