Why is it necessary to use the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual when working with clients? Is it an effective tool? Why or why not?

    The DSM is a standardized way of diagnosing symptoms as criteria to determine what disorders (if any) are present. Once the disorder is diagnosed, various treatments can be applied.

    As accurate as the criteria are, the DSM will be effective in diagnosing. How accurate do you think the criteria are?
