Internal conflict occurs when a force within the character is against him/her.
If someone is possessed by a ghost, would it be considered external or internal conflict. I still say external because it is not the person, and it is a ghost. Help?

I have removed your original post because you included your real name. That's not a safe thing to do online.

If the ghost is someone else's ghost, then this would be external conflict. If the ghost is the main character's ghost, then it's internal conflict.

To determine whether the conflict is internal or external, we need to understand the definition of internal and external conflict.

Internal conflict refers to a struggle that takes place within a character's mind or emotions. It typically involves a decision-making process or a clash of beliefs, values, or desires within the character.

On the other hand, external conflict involves a struggle between the character and an external force such as another character, nature, society, or a supernatural phenomenon.

In the scenario you provided, if the ghost is someone else's ghost that is causing harm or conflict with the main character, then it would be considered external conflict. The conflict is external because it involves an external force (the possessed ghost) acting upon the character.

However, if the ghost is actually the main character's own ghost - meaning the ghost is a manifestation of the character's own inner struggles or conflicts - it would be classified as internal conflict. The conflict is internal because it arises from within the character's own mind or emotions, even if it takes the form of a ghost.

It's important to note that the classification of conflict as internal or external may vary depending on the interpretation of the story or the specific context in which the conflict occurs.
