If you were to introduce yourself by the ethnic, racial, or other identities to which you feel you belong, what would you say? Do you consider yourself a “typical” American? I have no idea how to present this to others any ideas out there?

I think there are many, MANY people in the US who consider themselves simply Americans. In my opinion (and remember, that's all this is), to attach hyphenated identities is not helpful in building and maintaining a countryful of people who consider themselves united. And lately (last 15 years of so) it seems that we have been more "hyphenated" than ever before.

Again, in my opinion, this is a practice that has made our country far more divided than is healthy.

Others may have further/different opinions.
