each of 5 basketball teams in a league played N games with each of the 4 other teams.
If no games were played outside the league, which of the following could NOT be the number if games played by one team?
A. 8
B. 14
C. 16
D. 20
E. 32

If each team plays with each of the other four teams N times, then the number of games played would be:
4, 8, 12, ...
Can you find which of the five numbers does not belong?
So its 8?

Obviously you did not read MathMate's answer.

Oh 14?

Right.
14 is the only number that is not a multiple of 4.
Thank you!

You're welcome.
