1. A sample of n=20 has a mean of M = 40. If the standard deviation is s=5, would a score of X= 55 be considered an extreme value? Why or why not?

    Z = (score-mean)/SD

    Find table in the back of your statistics text labeled something like "areas under normal distribution" to find the proportion/probability related to the Z score.

    Do you consider that probability extreme?
