one company charges $6.95 per shirt plus a setup fee of $43. Another company charges $8.40 per shirt plus a $58 set up fee. for what number of shirts would the total be the same?

43 + 6.95n = 58 + 8.40n
Solve for n.

subtract 43 from both sides
9.65n=5843+8.40n
9.65n=15+8.40n
subtract 8.40n from both sides
9.65n8.40n=15
1.25n=15
divide it by 1.25
n=12
go back to the equation and plug in
12
9.65(12)+43=8.40(12)+58
158.8=158.8
