A car uses 114 g of petrol to travel one mile.
Calculate the mass of carbon dioxide produced when this car travels one mile.
I will assume petrol is octane although that isn't quite correct.
2C8H18 + 25O2 ==> 16CO2 + 18H2O
mols petrol = grams/molar mass
mols CO2 poduced = mols C8H18 x (16 mols CO2/2 mols C8H18) = ?
Then g CO2 = mols CO2 x molar mass CO2.
