Homework Help: urgent urgent algebra / precalculas

For # 1, im getting stuck on this problem i dont understand this

1.4 = e ^ (0.03k)

Now take the natural logarithm of both sides to solve for ,

ln 1.4 = ln e ^ (0.03k)

ln 1.4 = 0.03k * ln e

Recall that ln e = 1.

ln 1.4 = 0.03 k

Solve for k.

Then try part b.

For # 2,

y = 3 + e ^ (4 - x). Swap x and y and then solve for y.

x = 3 + e ^ (4 - y)

x - 3 = e ^ (4 - y)

Now take the natural logarithm of both sides and solve for y.

e^(0.03k) = 1.4
0.03k*Lne = Ln1.4
0.03k*1 = 0.33647
k = 11.22
