for the second one you have b^2 under a radical sign with an index of 3 (or root of 3)
You have some typos in the first one.. but if I am a reading it correctly.
(w+9)^3 = -56
take the cube root of both sides
w + 9 = cube root of (-56)
subtract 9.. the 9 will not be under the root.
