There were 409 tickets sold for a basketball game. The activity card holder's ticket cost $ 1.75, and the non-card holder's ticket cost $2.25. The total amount of money collected was $753.75. How many of each kind of tickets were sold?

Algebra 1 - Reiny, Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 3:17pm
number of activity holders --- x
number of non-activity holders --- 409-x

1.75x + 2.25(409-x) = 753.75
multiply by 100

175x + 225(409-x) = 75375
take it from there
