**Reiny**, Friday, March 1, 2013 at 9:26pmgiven: Z = 3Y

Do you mean X is 10% of the sum of Y and Z ??

If so, then

X = (1/10) (Z + Y)

= Z/10 + Y/10

= 3Y/10 + y/10

= 4Y/10

percentage of X/Y

= (4Y/10) / Y

= 4/10 = 40/100 = 40%
