I Googled ~Canada mental disorder defense~, looked at the 5th one ~Magnotta and the possibility of the insanity defense~, read it til I found a simile, referin to the case of Guy Curcotte
... and then I hit the post answer button by mistake... :P anyway.. the spelling is wrong, the mans name is Guy Turcotte. So, I googled him, look at the 3rd one down, the Huffington post article, should do it.
