Whenever I plug in my ps3 hdmi cable to the back of my Samsung tv, the screen says,"Wrong mode." What does this mean and how can I fix it? P.S I did not just get the ps3, ive had it for 2 years but I wanted to change t.v's.

The "Wrong mode" message on your Samsung TV indicates that the TV is receiving a signal from your PS3 that it cannot display properly. This issue typically occurs when there is a compatibility problem with the HDMI signal or settings.

Here are a few steps you can try to fix this problem:

1. Check the HDMI cable: Make sure that the HDMI cable you're using is properly connected to both the PS3 and the TV. If you have another HDMI cable available, you can try using it to see if the issue is with the cable itself.

2. Restart your devices: Turn off both your PS3 and TV, and then unplug them from the power source. Wait for a few minutes, and then plug them back in and turn them on. Sometimes, a simple restart can help resolve compatibility issues.

3. Adjust the resolution output on PS3: If the resolution output from your PS3 is set higher than what the TV can handle, it can cause display problems. Try resetting the resolution to a standard value by following these steps:
- Connect the PS3 to a TV or monitor that works properly.
- On your PS3, go to Settings > Display Settings > Video Output Settings.
- Select HDMI and then choose Automatic.
- If Automatic doesn't work, you can try selecting a lower resolution option and see if it solves the issue.

4. Update firmware: Check if there are any available firmware updates for both your PS3 and Samsung TV. Sometimes, firmware updates can address compatibility issues and improve overall performance.

5. Try a different HDMI port: Samsung TVs often have multiple HDMI ports. Try connecting your PS3 to a different HDMI port on the TV to see if it resolves the problem. It's possible that one of the ports may be faulty.

6. Test with another TV or console: If possible, try connecting your PS3 to another TV or connect another console to your Samsung TV using the same HDMI cable. This will help determine if the issue lies with the TV or the PS3.

If none of these steps resolve the "Wrong mode" issue, it might be worth contacting the Samsung support or seeking assistance from a professional technician who can further diagnose the problem.
