Monique and Jackie start at the same spot and run in the same direction around a quarter mile track. Monique runs at a speed of 14mph, Jackie runs at a speed of 16mph . how long will it take for Jackie to laps monique? (Jackie runs 1 more lap than monique?)

The speed difference is 2 mph

The time it takes to run an extra 1/4 mile is thus 1/8 hour

check:
In 1/8 hour M runs 14/8 = 7/4 mi
J runs 16/8 = 2 mi, or one extra lap
