how can i solve that with quadratic formula?plz i need the solution fast.

to use the formula, you must have

ax^2 + bx + c = 0

so, convert to that format, by clearing fractions and collecting terms:

1/2 x^2 = x/4 + 1

2x^2 = x + 4

2x^2 - x - 4 = 0

no apply the formula
