Patient Y, a 70-year-old woman, presents to your office two days after a syncopal episode. She had walked to the bathroom at 4 a.m., and as she walked back, she rapidly became lightheaded. She grabbed at the near corner of the bed, but ended up falling against it, landing on her left side on the floor. She thinks she lost consciousness briefly, then struggled up by grabbing the corner of the bed. She has a history of hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, and tobacco abuse.
