Ancient Egypt has long captured the imaginations of ordinary people, not just historians. There seems to be a fascination with Egypt even more than other ancient cultures. Briefly discuss why you think that Egypt has continued to intrigue people.

Like most other people I'd seen pictures of the Pyramids, temples at Karnak, King Tut's tomb in the Valley of the Kings, and the temples at Abu Simbel. But when I saw these buildings in person several years ago, I was stunned! To imagine that people built these monuments 4,000 years ago was staggering.

The hieroglyphs and tomb paintings also are awesome and show the modern world what ancient Egyptian life and religion were like.
