He had dimes and quarters ... He has 8 more quarters than dimes equalling 5.50..., how do u solve ..

working with the number of coins,
you are told that q = d+8

now add the values:
10d + 25(d+8) = 550
10d + 25d + 200 = 550
35d = 350
d = 10

so, 10 dimes, 18 quarters
