Please help! It says- A machine takes 4.0 hours to make 8 parts. At that rate, how many parts can the machine make in 31.0 hours? Anybody want to explain it to me?

One way to solve this is with a proportion.

8/4 = x/31

Cross multiply and solve for x.

4x = 248

x = 248/4

x = 62 parts
