Homework Help: maths --plse help me..

A school has a hall which is 22 m long and 15.5 m broad . A carpet is laid inside the leaving all around a margin of 75 cm from the walls . Find the area of the carpet and the area of strip left uncovered . If the width of carpet is 82cm ,find its cost at the rate of Rs60 per m.

carpeted area is (22-1.5)(15.5-1.5) = 287 m^2

margin area = 22*15.5 - 287 = 54 m^2

carpeted area is 14m wide, so it will take 17.07 strips of carpet. Call it 17.

17*20.5*60 = Rs 20910
