9^2 + x^2 = 15^2
81 + x^2 = 225
x^2 = 144
x = 12
or, since you are familiar with the 3-4-5 right triangle, you might have noticed that
9 = 3x3
15 = 3x5
so the other leg would be 3x4 = 12
Use the Pythagorean Theorem.
a^2 + b^2 = c^2
a^2 + 9^2 = 15^2
