Write a short paragraph that traces the rise of Japan from an isolated society to a major industrial and imperial power.

I'm good at writing paragraphs but I really don't understand the question! If someone could explain to me what my teacher wants and how I should go about writing this paragraph, that would be great!

Also I have a few questions:
How do you 'trace the rise of Japan'?

I think what the teacher wants is for me to write a paragraph using the major historical points and what Japan has been through in order to become an industrial/imperial power(such as changing and modernizing/sending a person to learn the ways of the west, winning the war and taking over other territories ect)...am I correct?

Yes, your understanding is correct.

Thank you so much!!! I really don't understand my teacher very well. She tries to explain but it makes no sense. I wrote a 7 paragraph essay on a total different subject one time, I ended up having to write it all over again.. Completely differently. Thanks again for your help.

You're welcome. Good luck with your essay.

Do ur own homework

I am doing this essay too and I don't have the book could you help me???

Yes, you are correct in your understanding of the question. To "trace the rise of Japan" means to explain and outline the key events and factors that led to Japan's transformation from an isolated society to a major industrial and imperial power. In your paragraph, you can highlight the major historical points and explain how Japan underwent significant changes and advancements to achieve its position.

Here is a suggested approach to writing the paragraph:

The rise of Japan from an isolated society to a major industrial and imperial power can be traced through a series of transformative events. In the mid-19th century, Japan underwent a notable shift called the Meiji Restoration. After realizing that other nations were advancing rapidly, Japan decided to modernize and learn from the West. They sent several students and diplomats to study and understand Western technologies, systems, and techniques. This marked the beginning of Japan's industrial revolution. Additionally, the Sino-Japanese War in 1894-1895 and the Russo-Japanese War in 1904-1905 played crucial roles in Japan's rise to power. Japan emerged victorious in both conflicts, which not only solidified its position as a regional power but also allowed it to expand its territory. Furthermore, Japan implemented economic policies that focused heavily on industrialization, infrastructure development, and modernization. They successfully established a strong manufacturing base and became a major exporter of goods. This rapid industrial growth, along with strategic military modernization, contributed to Japan's emergence as an imperial power, as evidenced by its annexation of Taiwan in 1895 and Korea in 1910.

Remember to use your own words and knowledge to expand on each point, providing specific examples and details where possible.
