MegaMart collects a sales tax equal to 1/16 of the retail price of each purchase and sends this money to the state government.
a. Is the amount of tax collected proportional to the cost of an item before tax is added?
b. Is the amount of tax collected proportional to the cost of an item after tax has been added?
Bobpursley already answered this for you.
yes i know, but i don't why it end up with 17/16*price. how it became 17?
cost=tax+price=1/16 price+price=17/16* price
16/16 = 1
1 + 1/16 = 17/16
ahhhhh....i see!!!! thank you soooo much for answering me and give me the more details :)
