ms.brown has a piece of rope that is 5 3/4 feet long. she cuts off a lenght that is 1 7/8 feet long what is the best estimate of the lenght of rope that is left?

    you are cutting off almost 2 feet from 5 3/4
    leaving appr 3 3/4

    but ... why estimate, you would have the correct answer in about 20 seconds
    23/4 - 15/8
    = (46-15)/8
    = 31/8 = 3 7/8
