Homework Help: Jr. Math

I biked 3/8 the distance from my school to my home. If I have 10 miles to go, how many miles have I gone.

My answer is, 24 miles, am I correct.

let the total distance be x

x - (3/8)x = 10
8x - 3x = 80
5x=80
x=16

total distance is 16
He went (3/8)16 = 6

So he went 6 miles
