Not really, its more for histology. But between the two, its more important for the physiology component.
In physiology, it's all about the function of cell and tissue and you need a good background in histology to reason properly. Skin is the best example. If you know what type of cell all the layers are made of it's easy to figure out some dermatology pathologies.
