 3 k 8 < = 5 k Subtract 5 k to both sides
 3 k 8 5 k < = 5 k 5 k
 8 k 8 < = 0 Add 8 to both sides
 8 k 8 + 8 < = 0 + 8
 8 k < = 8 Divide both sides by 8
