-7/63 + (-45/63) = -52/63

The easiest way is to change these to improper fractions.

3 1/2 = 7/2
1 5/9 = 14/9

(7/2) / (14/9) =

(7/2) * (9/14) = 63/28 = 2.25

She can cut two pieces of ribbon from this length.
