I'm sorry, but I don't really know what your teacher wants. Please make an appointment and ask for his/her help.

ok thanks ms. sue :)

When writing a thesis statement for a compare/contrast essay, you want to provide a clear and concise overview of the movies you will be discussing while also indicating the direction of your comparison. Here's a suggestion on how to structure your thesis statement for a movie like "Smoke Signals:"

"In the movie 'Smoke Signals' and its counterpart, '___________________' (insert the name of the second movie you will be comparing), both films explore similar themes of ___________________ (insert one of the thematic elements you identified in your thematic statement). However, the two movies differ in their ___________________ (insert another thematic element you identified)."

Let's break it down:

1. Introduce the movies: Start by mentioning the specific movie you are comparing, such as "Smoke Signals," and indicate that you will be comparing it to another film. Fill in the blank with the name of the second movie you watched.

2. Identify similar themes: Next, briefly mention that both movies explore similar themes. Refer back to your thematic statement, highlighting one of the thematic elements you have identified.

3. Highlight the differences: Following the mention of similar themes, point out the differences between the two movies. Select another thematic element you identified to highlight this contrast.

Remember, this is just a template to help you get started. Feel free to adjust the wording to fit your specific essay and the themes you have identified.
