What is an example, or maybe even two examples of a plant that grows in one climate but also a climate that that plant doesn't grow in. Thank you very, very much to any help. 8) Thank ya, sk8rgur99

The obvious example is most cactuses that grows in arid, desert regions, but do not grow in wet conditions.

Geraniums grow year-round in areas where there is seldom a frost. In Michigan, where I live, geraniums can only be outside during the summer.

Could you help me again? The same question but with animals? ☺ Please and thank you.

Where do polar bears live? Where do elephants and giraffes live?

How about armadillos? Crocodiles?

Okay thank you. I knew it, I just couldn't think of any good examples. Thank you Ms. Sue. I think you just saved my life! :) Anyways, thank you so much for your help. sk8rgurl99

You are very welcome!

Certainly! One example of a plant that grows well in one climate but not in another is the cactus. Cacti are adapted to arid climates with high temperatures and low rainfall. They have specialized features, such as thick stems and spines, that help them conserve water. Cacti thrive in desert regions like the Sonoran Desert in North America.

On the other hand, cacti would not grow well in a climate with high humidity and frequent rainfall, such as a tropical rainforest. In this type of environment, cacti would have difficulty surviving due to the excess moisture and lack of the dry conditions they prefer.

Another example is the orchid. Orchids are known for their delicate and exotic flowers. They typically thrive in tropical climates with high humidity and abundant rainfall. Orchids have adapted to these conditions by developing aerial roots and specialized petals to capture and store water.

However, orchids would struggle to survive in dry climates with low humidity, such as a desert. The lack of moisture would make it challenging for them to obtain the water they require for proper growth and flowering.

To find specific examples of plants that grow in one climate but not another, you can conduct research based on the climate requirements of different plant species. Botanical books, online databases, or consulting with local gardening experts can provide valuable information on plants suited to specific climates.
