length + width = 22
w = 22-L
A = w L = (22-L)L
A = 22 L - L^2
that is a parabola, find the vertex
L^2 - 22 L = -A
L^2 - 22 L + 121 = -A+121
(L-11)^2 = -A + 121
vertex (maximum of A) at L = 11, A = 121
then w also = 11
and it is a SQUARE :)
