Use the elimination method to solve the system of equations

a + 6b =4
a + 3b = -2

What is the solution in an ordered pair?

multiply #2 by 2 to get

2a + 6b = -4
now subtract the top equation from that to get

a = -8

now plug that into either equation to get

b = 2
