Let x + 2 = number in tens place
Let x - 4 = number in hundreds place
add all and set equal to 16
x + x+2 + x-4 = 16
x + x + x = 16 -2 + 4
3x = 18
divide both sides by 3
3x/3 = 18/3
x = 6
