Use parentheses to isolate numerators and denominators. For example,
3.) 2x/(x^2-2x-15) - (x-2)/(3x^2+9x)
= 2x/[(x-5)(x+3)] + (x-2)/[3x(x+3)]
= [1/(x+3)][2x/(x-5) + (x-2)/(3x)]
