-4k-8k+7=-53

Please explain how you found your answer!! Please help!!

First, combine like terms.

-12k + 7 = -53

Subtract 7 from both sides.

-12k = -53 -7

-12k = -60

Divide both sides by - 12

k = -60/-12

k = 5
