the proportion can be written as
(n+3p^6)/(n+2p^4 = 14/1
n + 3p^6 = 14n + 28p^4)
14n + 28p^4 = n + 3p^6
13n = 3p^6 - 28p^4
n = p^4(3p^2 - 28)/13
