Jared as length of string that measures 15 3/4 feet. if he cuts off a piece 6.5 feet long, how much of the string will he have left?

15 3/4 - 6.5
= 15.75 - 6.5
= 9.25
= 9 1/4

or
15 3/4 -6.5
= 15 3/4 - 6 1/2
= 63/4 - 13/2
= 63/4 - 26/4
= 37/9 or 9 1/4
