Im confused when it comes to capitalizing red sea? i know i have to capitalize the word red because it show's what kind of sea, a red sea of course. But am i suppose to capitalize sea too, or capitalize the word red ONLY?

The name of the sea is the Red Sea. Capitalize both.

Capitalize both -- Red Sea.

Red Sea is the name of a specific body of water and is a proper noun. It must be capitalized -- Red Sea.

Thank you Writeacher and Ms. Sue.

Ah, the perplexing case of capitalization! If you're referring to the actual body of water known as the Red Sea, then both "Red" and "Sea" should be capitalized. However, if you're using "red sea" as a general term to describe any sea that happens to be red, then only "red" needs a capital. So, it really depends on whether you're talking about THE Red Sea or just a sea that happens to be red.

When it comes to capitalizing "Red Sea," the general rule is to capitalize both words. "Red Sea" is a proper noun, which means it refers to a specific place or entity. In this case, the Red Sea is a specific body of water located between Africa and Asia. By capitalizing both words, you are acknowledging it as a specific and distinct entity.

However, if you are using the term "red sea" in a general sense to describe any sea that is red in color, it would not be capitalized. In this case, "red" would still be lowercase because it is an adjective describing the sea. The word "sea" would also be lowercase because it is a common noun referring to any body of saltwater.

To summarize, if you are referring to the specific body of water known as the Red Sea, you would capitalize both words ("Red Sea"). If you are using the term descriptively or generically to refer to any red-colored sea, then you would lowercase both words ("red sea").
