In my view, religion is only one factor in evil. Evil (lying, cheating, stealing, killing) is based on greed, in when dealing with larger groups such as sects, or countries, or geograhic areas, geopolitical greed factors are the prime motivators, and religion may or may not be a factor.

Remember Hitler? He formed his on Church in Germany to replace the Lutherans who where not lining up behind him?

Religion is but one factor, you can't just single it out.

I asked because it is an essay question on my religion test, I was just looking for some opinions to help me decide on which side to choose. Thank you all

Determining whether Islam promotes terror or peace is a complex and subjective question. It is important to approach this topic with sensitivity and understand that Islam, like any other religion, consists of diverse beliefs and interpretations held by millions of individuals around the world.

To better understand the nature of Islam and its teachings, one should turn to primary sources such as the Qur'an, the central religious text of Islam, and the hadith, which contains the sayings and actions of Prophet Muhammad. Engaging with academic sources and seeking the perspectives of scholars and experts on Islam can also provide valuable insights.

However, it is essential to recognize that Islam, as a religion, does not inherently promote terror. Islam, like other major religions, emphasizes notions of peace, justice, compassion, and spiritual growth. Many Muslims, the followers of Islam, actively practice their faith in ways that promote peace, harmony, and the well-being of society.

It is also crucial to avoid generalizations and refrain from associating the actions of a few individuals or extremist groups with the entire Muslim community or the religion itself. Islam, much like any other belief system, can be interpreted differently by individuals, which influences their actions and perspectives.

Therefore, it is more accurate to say that the perception of Islam as promoting either terror or peace varies among individuals, communities, and regions based on their interpretations, cultural contexts, and political factors. To form a balanced and informed opinion, engaging in respectful dialogue and learning from credible sources is crucial.
