two motorcyclists started at the same point and travel in opposite directions. one travels 6 mph faster than the other.In 4 hours they are 432miles apart. how fast is each traveling?

speed of slower mph

speed of faster mph

let speed of slower be x mph
then speed of the faster is x+6 mph

distance covered by slower = 4x
distance covered by faster = 4(x+6)
4x + 4(x+6) = 432
8x + 24=432
8x = 408
x = 51

the slower went 51 mph, the faster went 57 mph
